A Legacy Forged in Light
Photography found me through my grandfathers. One was a Montana oilman who saw the world through the lens of a Canon FD 35mm—a machine of light and glass I still carry in my bag today. The other spent his life in the hollowed halls of MGM and Paramount, where cinematic precision was not just an art, but a family legacy.
Those two worlds—the rugged solitude of the Big Sky and the calculated drama of old Hollywood—converged in me. I studied film before finding my true voice in the still frame, trading active monitors for the contemplative, haptic soul of the Leica Q and SL2.
Now based in the San Francisco Bay Area, I seek the quiet moments where a landscape decides to reveal its secrets. Every frame is a bridge back to that genuine childhood awe, an invitation to look at the world as if for the very first time.
THE PHILOSOPHY
“We do not just look at nature; if we stay long enough, we are healed by it.”
In an age of constant digital noise, I believe in the profound healing power of awe. Many of us suffer from what has been termed Nature Deficit Disorder—a physiological and spiritual loss of connection to the wild that roots us. My work is a meditation on stoicism and gratitude, a practice in slowing down until the world decides to reveal its genuine self.
I navigate the landscape with a Leica and a Quietist mindset. Each series is an invitation to look at our world not as a resource, but as a sanctuary. Gratitude is the attitude that informs every frame, aiming to bring back that childhood sense of genuine wonder we often leave behind.
